Acute pancreatitis and accidental displacement of biliary tube

Case history

Christopher Brown, a 47-year-old accountant, was readmitted two days ago. He’s a single parent of a 15-year-old boy and was hospitalized a few months ago for acute pancreatitis. This is his second hospitalization in the last three months.

The results of the ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) he had last night revealed the presence of a pseudocyst, so he underwent a surgical drainage and a biliary tube was inserted. The blood tests show a high level of serum amylase, the presence of leucocytosis, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and hypocalcemia.
